Here is a little ditty I just recorded on my computer for you! This was my absolute favorite song when I was four to six years old. I learned it from the woman, Saraka, who used to live in the cabin behind our house in back woods Massachusettes where I was born. She took care of me and my sister a lot and played the guitar and sang all kinds of happy, sweet, silly songs with us. I only knew the first verse and chorus until yesterday when I looked up all the lyrics online....so you get the complete version!
Pass it on!
MAGIC PENNY
Love is something if you give it away,
Give it away, give it away,
Love is something if you give it away,
You end up having more.
It's just like a magic penny,
Hold it tight and you won't have any.
Lend it, spend it and you'll have so many
They'll roll all over the floor, for
Chorus
Money's dandy and we like to use it
But love is better if you don't refuse it,
It's a treasure and you'll never lose it
Unless you lock up your door, for
Chorus
So let's go dancing till the break of day
And if there's a piper, we can pay
For love is something if you give it away
You end up having more.
Chorus
